An ACUC Instructor will be
pleased to assist you on your open water evaluations. Please note that
with ACUC and most other certification agencies, the Instructor who taught the theory
(or classroom) and practical (or pool) portion of your dive program is the
certifying instructor. With PADI sometimes it is the Instructor who
completes your open water evaluations the one who certifies you, and we
understand that you may not be able to return to your original PADI Instructor
for certification. If you choose to complete your open water evaluations
with an ACUC Instructor and you wish to obtain an ACUC certification, you will
be required to obtain an ACUC training/certification kit, successfully complete
an ACUC written exam and your open water dives will be evaluated to ACUC
standards. You will probably need additional training according to ACUC
standards. You will also be issued, if you pass, an ACUC Certification Card.
If you choose, though it
isn't necessary, once you receive your ACUC Certification you can apply to PADI
for a continuing education course leading to a PADI certification, as both PADI
and ACUC are WRSTC members (see WRSTC) and we recognise
each other certifications.
Please be aware that if you refuse the ACUC
certification, ACUC is not responsible if your PADI Instructor does not provide
you with a PADI certification, and therefore, any complaints must be sent to
your PADI Instructor or to PADI, not to ACUC. If you refuse this option, your
ACUC Instructor might also ask you to sign this document
