ACUC CROSSOVER

Program for instructors from CMAS or RSTC member organisations (NAUI candidates also welcomed) wishing to crossover to ACUC

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The crossover is made up of three main parts:

  1. One where you show us what you think
  2. One where you show us what you know
  3. One where we tell you about ACUC

PART 1: WHERE YOU SHOW US WHAT YOU THINK

This part consists in a psicotechnical evaluation which, depending on the number of people in the course and the preferences of the Instructor Trainer, can be done either in writing, answering some simple questions or in a conversation between the evaluator and the candidate.

PART 2: WHERE YOU SHOW US WHAT YOU KNOW:

You will be expected to do:

1. A written examination dealing with the following subjects:

Do not worry, we expect you to fail in the ACUC Standards and Procedures section and even in the DCIEM tables section (unless you are already familiar with them) section.

We will not be surprise either if you fail the Marketing Techniques section, as your idea of Marketing might be quite different from ours and the Teaching Techniques section, as our techniques and system might be different than the one you are used to.

Nothing will happen because these are some of the sections which we will cover in the 3rd part of the program. However, as an Instructor, we do not expect you to fail the Physics and Physiology, the General Knowledge and the Scuba Rescue sections. These are basically the same no matter what organisation you come from.

The reason why we need this written examination is not only because we like to see what you know, but also, because for legal reasons we must have written proof of your knowledge.
Please understand this point and do not feel insulted by it.

2. At least two oral classroom presentations:

3. At least two pool practical, full cycle (out of water, inwater, out of water) presentations:

4. A land based CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) demostration

5. A pool Scuba Rescue Demonstration.

As you are already Instructors from other organisations, we will expect to see Instructor quality demonstrations of all these matters.

PART 3: WHERE WE TELL YOU ABOUT ACUC:

If your performance is considered adequate, then we will proceed to the 3rd and last part of the program, where we will talk about:

  1. ACUC
  2. ACUC Standards
  3. ACUC Material
  4. ACUC Procedures

Depending on the result of the evaluation on the 2nd Part of the program, the Instructor Trainer could also review with the candidates the following matters:

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW RELATIONSHIP

Once all these steps are completed you will become an ACUC Instructor. You will be part of a proud, fast growing, high quality, progressive thinking organisation.

An Organisation that is known worldwide for its quality, safety and high standards.

There is only one more thing that you should know.

As an ACUC Instructor you are expected to have the following two specialties: First Aid and Oxygen Provider. You are also expected to have an excellent knowledge on Diver Rescue and, if not, you will be required to attend an ACUC Rescue Course.

We understand that you just joined us and therefore, it is quite illogical that we ask you to already have this. For this reason, we give you up to 6 months after you have obtained your ACUC Instructor certification to complete these requirements.

If you already hold similar specialties from other organisations, it is possible to homologate these for ACUC’s. Your Instructor Trainer will explain how this can be done during the crossover program.

We hope that this has explained what is involved in a crossover to ACUC. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call, fax, email or write your ACUC Country Delegate or either one of the 2 Main Offices of ACUC (Canada and Spain).

We are here to help you and we would like to have the opportunity to show you first hand that at ACUC, you are considered a valuable person and not just a number.
